Agile Scrum

Changing the organization

Over the last years the popularity of Agile Scrum, either apart or combined, has exploded. If you should believe what you hear, everybody is Agile these days. Only if we look below the surface we see that organizations are still struggling with the same issues as they did before.

Implementing Agile Scrum won’t solve your problems for you, as any other method would. Agile Scrum is no silver bullet, as any other approach. It’s an approach that has certain characteristics; as any other approach has. There’s no one size fits all, no golden solution, no Eureka! and definitely not one answer!

Unfortunately Agile Scrum is still often seen as an IT-methodology, as a development approache. Yet this specific method require involvement and support of the organization as a whole. And so using these methods shouldn’t be limited to IT only. Organizations flourishing and picking the benefits of Agile &/or Scrum are those that act as one, and don’t emphasize the difference between “IT” and “business”.

Getting familiar with Agile Scrum isn’t just reading the books and learning the basic characteristics, it’s an organizational change that needs to be managed properly.
